Bihar map
Jehanabad, July 11: A mob ransacked a government hospital and torched two ambulances, besides thrashing a doctor, when power suddenly went off during the operation of two shootout-injured in Bihar's Jehanabad district last night, police said.

As Ahmad and Sonu, who suffered gun-shot injuries in a shootout, were about to be operated at the government hospital in the headquarters town, power suddenly went off but even the power back-up system could not be used.

The relatives of the patients, accompanied by some locals, then ransacked the hospital, burnt two ambulances parked on the campus and damaged furniture, police said.

A section of the crowd thrashed a doctor on duty and damaged his vehicle. The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police soon reached the spot with heavy reinforcements.

The two injured were soon shifted to Patna Medical College Hospital. Aggrieved doctors boycotted the outdoor this morning seeking adequate security.
