9-year-old mentally disabled girl raped in Chembur

Mumbai, Jul 11: In a recent incident on Friday, Jul 8 a nine-year-old mentally disabled girl was brutally raped by two men, one of whom was arrested by the police on Saturday, Jul 9 and the other absconding. This inhumane incident took place in a slum at Chembur, when the minor girl was alone at her home.

The accused Gorakh Dinkar, who is under custody now is a 27-year-old labourer while, the other has not yet been identified. Two of them allegedly barged into the girl's house in the afternoon when her parents were not there and forcibly raped the girl.

"The accused resides in the same locality and may have seen the victim alone earlier too. The victim's parents work at a nearby private company," police inspector P Dharia from RCF police station said.

The girl was admitted to the Rajawadi hospital for medical check-up after the victim's parents learnt about the incident after returning from work. The cops said that neighbours rushed to the victim's house when they heard her loud screams. But unfortunately the rapists fled the spot.

The accused have been booked under sections 376 (rape) and 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) and 34 (common intention).
