Anna Hazare
New Delhi, Jul 11: It has been reported that Civil Society members led by Anna Hazare was offered a remuneration to attend the drafting committee meeting. It is understood that an amount of Rs 3500 was offered to every non-official member of the Joint Lokpal Drafting Committee per sitting. The simmering anger between Team Anna and the Union government over the proposed Lokpal Bill draft has now hit a new-low with the latest revelation.

Members of civil society refuted all such claims and reiterated that no fees was accepted, with Arvind Kerjriwal claiming that only Anna Hazare and Justice Santosh Hegde availed the airfare, and that too for economy class. They were offered business class fares by the government.

In a letter accessed by Times Now that states that the boarding, lodging and conveyance charges of the members will be met by the Union Government. Business class airfare was also offered to every member especially for those who were coming in to Delhi from elsewhere to attend the Lokpal drafting committee meetings.

With the Anna Hazare team now at the receiving end of the flak for accepting government money to fight the corruption in the very same government, the civil society members and Anna Hazare will have a lot of questions to answer.
