Man with pistol gave Rahul company for padayatra; detained

Tappal, Jul 7: With the self-proclaimed messiah of the farmers, Rahul Gandhi who is currently on a foot march in the villages of Bhatta Parsaul, had to face a challenge to his security arrangements when a man was found in his vicinity carrying loaded revolver. He is on the third day of the padayatra that will culminate in the Kisan Mahapanchayath in Aligarh.

The person was arrested immediately by personnel from the Special Protection Group (SPG) and was found to be carrying a .32 bore revolver and was caught hovering around the second ring of Rahul's high security cordon. He is believed to have been carrying a licenses pistol and aged around 40.

The man, Harikishan Sharma was nabbed at around 8:30am by the SPG and was later handed over to the Uttar Pradesh Police after questioning. Local sources revealed that he hailed from Tappal village, but police have verified that he was from Udaipur in UP. He is believed to be a Congress worker.

Rahul Gandhi had resumed his third day of padayatra with this security breach happening two hours after he resumed the foot march on Thursday.
