Six cops injured in IED blast in J&K

Srinagar, Jul 6: Around six were injured on Wednesday, Jul 6 due to an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion near a police station in Sopore, Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir triggered by the militants.

According to the officials, around 9.05 am on Wednesday morning, a rifle grenade was fired by the militants which landed and exploded in the police station.

As the policemen rushed out, the militants triggered an IED planted on a scooter that was parked near the police station. Six policemen were wounded in the IED explosion, the officials said, adding that the condition of four of them is critical. They are fighting between life and death now, the police said.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched search operations but there have been no arrests so far, the officials said.
