Facebook "awesome" event on Jul 6: What to expect?

California, Jul 3: Now, it's official - Facebook going to add "awesome" features! Just few days after its CEO Mark Zuckerberg

his plans to "launch something awesome," Facebook had sent invites to various media organizations inviting them for a news event on Wednesday, Jul 6.

According to the email invitation, the event will be held at Facebook's Palo Alto, California, headquarters. But, the invite doesn't reveal about the event. That means, we have to wait till the announcement to kmow what is there for us.

Anyhow, social networking world was busy with various speculations and rumours. Some reports added that Facebook is planning to launch some extra 'brand new features' to the platform to stop the flow of users to recently announced Google's social networking website Google+ (Google Plus). The latest rumour mill reports suggested that the announcement would be the launch of video chat with the help of Skype. Even though Facebook and Skype alliance was there in news long time back, the arrival of Google+ with video chat added more spice to rumours. Skype, which was recently acquired by Microsoft, is also looking for a new partner to extend its service.

Another front-runner in the rumour list is the launch of exclusive Facebook app for Apple iPad. A report in Los Angeles Times said that Facebook is also planning to launch a photo sharing app for Apple iPhones.

With the announcement of Google+, Facebook is in dilemma to continue its domination in social networking market. The early reports about Google+ revealed that it provides better features than Facebook. Even though it's still in production stage, Google managed to create a media hype over Google+, the exact thing what they wanted before the public launch.
