Stand on PM under Lokpal: BJP numb, people find it dumb
Hazare on Friday, Jul 1 met senior BJP leaders including LK Advani, Rajnath Singh, Murli Manohar Joshi and many others. After the meeting the opposition leaders claimed that they wanted a strong Lokpal (Ombudsman) to curb or eliminate corruption completely from the country.
However, during his meeting with the BJP leaders, Anna Hazare did not receive any profound support from the party as BJP leaders have not cleared their stand yet on the issue of inclusion of the Prime Minister and other higher judiciary and entire bureaucracy under Lokpal's ambit.
BJP party sources informed that the NDA leaders will hold a core-party meeting on Saturday and clarify their stand on the much discussed Lokpal controversy. All these meeting occurred just ahead of the all party meeting over the Lokpal spat.
BJP's uncleared stand on the Lokpal issue made people questioning - is it because one day BJP may be in power replacing the UPA government and they don't want to be held accountable by Lokpal bill?
BJP should have taken a stand, one way or the other. But if they are afraid to take a stand how can the citizens feel confident about voting for them? It seems that BJP along with UPA have come into the threshold to take a strong stand on Lokpal row.
