Baghu Dewani accused former BJP leader Babu Bokhiria of being behind the attack. Baghu Dewani believes that he was attacked for seeking information on illegal construction in Porbandar city.

Dewani said that Babu Bokhiria has involved in illegal mining in the sate. According to him, the illegal buildings coming up in Porbandar city belong to the relatives Babu Bokhiria.

The people who have been arrested are believed to have attacked the activist on the instruction of the owner of a hotel who had constructed it on illegal land.
