Man burnt alive in rescue effort

Varanasi, Jun 25: A man was today (Jun 25) burnt alive in a rescue effort after a truck carrying gas-cylinders rammed into another truck loaded with chemicals, police said here.

A truck laden with gas-cylinders crashed into a truck stationed outside a factory on GT road Mehdigunj, SHO Mirzamurad, Dharamveer Yadav said.

A 25-year-old helper, Saroj, was stuck in the truck filled with cylinders. When people tried to rescue him using a gas-cutter, the vehicles caught fire and he was burnt alive, police said.

It took four hours to control the fire which badly affected the traffic on the road, a fire-brigade officer said. The truck driver fled from the spot, they said.
