UP: Slap on Maya govt, CMO murder accused dead

Lucknow, Jun 23: It might be a bigger shocker for Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh when the prime accused in the Family Welfare CMO, Dr BP Singh's murder case has been found dead. The accused Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Yogendra Singh Sachan on Wednesday, Jun 22 reportedly committed suicide and that too under the nose of the security personnel of Lucknow jail.

Yogendra Singh, who was arrested as the main accused and suspect in the murder case of BP Singh, was found hanging in an unused toilet in a hospital on Wednesday evening. Yogendra was admitted in hospital on Tuesday over health problem.

Lucknow Jail ADG VK Gupta said, "Sachan was found missing during evening count. We searched for him and his body was found in hospital's toilet. It seems he committed suicide. We will cite the cause of death after a post-mortem report. Judicial enquiry has been ordered."

Yogendra was also charged in the murder case of another CMO, Vinod Arya who was killed in 2010. BP Singh was murdered on Apr 2, 2011 over charging the irregularities in purchasing drugs and equipments under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

Media reports claimed that citing the grave situation after Yogendra's reported suicide, Mayawati government officials held an emergency meeting over the issue.
