UP: Deputy CMO death, murder or suicide?

Lucknow, Jun 23: The family of dead deputy CMO YS Sachan, who was found dead in a unused toilet has demanded a CBI probe into the matter calling his murder a conspiracy "to shield some high and mighty people".

"I want a CBI probe into the murder of my brother...He has been murdered", said R K Sachan, brother of the deputy CMO.

"Have you ever heard of anyone hanging from his belt...My brother was innocent", he said.

Mayawati government which is already under pressure with the rising number of rape cases in her state acted tough and dismissed five staff from the jail, where the doctor was found dead.

"According to jail superintendent B S Mukund and doctor V P Tripathi, Sachan was found dead in the toilet of the hospital,"said VK Gupta, Inspector General.

"Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide and postmortem is being conducted," said Gupta.

Sachan was arrested on charges of murdering BP Singh, a CMO on Jun 17. BP Singh was murdered on Apr 2, 2011 over charging the irregularities in purchasing drugs and equipments under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM).

His name also came out in murder case of another CMO, Vinod Kumar Arya who died after being shot in Oct 2010.

The postmortem report of Sachan reveal that there were 6 deep injuries on the body of the doctor. Reports confirm that he died due to excessive bleeding.

According to sources no weapons were found near his body.

"This is cold-blooded murder, " said Akhilesh Yadav, state president, Samajwadi Party. "And none other than top people in the Mayawati government are responsible for the murder in jail," he added

Rita Bahuguna Joshi, State president for congress blamed the Mayawati government and suspected the hand of "people in the government" in the offence.

"The truth can only be unravelled if the case is handed over to the CBI," she said.

Digvijay Singh, Congress leader said it was a case of pure murder.

Media reports claim that citing the grave situation after Yogendra's reported suicide, Mayawati government officials held an emergency meeting over the issue.
