Women take out rally against eve-teasing

Jaipur, Jun 22: In the wake of molestation of a girl in Rajasthan university campus, teachers of the varsity and representatives from various women organisations today (Jun 22) took out a rally and demanded initiatives to ensure safe atmosphere for girls.

"The rally began from the university law college and after covering various departments it ended at the Vice Chancellor's secretariat where we submitted our representation to an official in absence of the VC," Rajasthan University Women's Association (RUWA) President, Malti Gupta, said.

"We have also objected the appointment of a three member committee, comprising all men, to probe the incident despite existence of a sexual harassment committee in the university," she said.

A girl, student of LLB first year, was eve teased and manhandled by some persons in Rajasthan University campus while she was returning to her hostel after writing an exam on Monday.
