Paravoor flesh trade: Kerala CM promises action

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 22: After the dreadful case of sexual exploitation of a minor girl by 100 men that got revealed in Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy acting tough on the case promised that the culprits would be taken to task and given stringent punishment.

Expressing shock and emotions over the pathetic incident, Chandy said, "Police is actively probing the case. Government will not allow anyone to escape the law."

A 14 year-old-girl who hails from Paravoor in Ernakulum district confided to a relative about her miserable plight. She was sexually abused by 100 men, including her father. She is now being treated for venereal disease.

This case was lodged three months back. The CM said that five police teams have been formed to nab the culprits and already 29 have been arrested. But, 71 culprits are still moving free.

According to the police sources, the victim's father used to do odd roles in Malayalam films, who first exploited his own daughter and then threw her to wolves.

The police is still searching for other culprits in the neighbouring states like Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Chandy said, "Police is actively probing the case. The government will not allow anyone to escape the law."
