A peek into kanimozhi's life in Tihar jail

New Delhi, Jun 21: Kanimozhi, DMK MP and 2G accused has been fighting hard to prove her innocence in the court while still adapting to her life in Tihar jail, where she is currently lodged.

The daughter of Karunanidhi and the youngest among his children, the 43-year-old currently resides in jail number 8, Tihar jail.

Kanimozhi, like any other inmate of jail gets the same treatment. She sleeps on the floor, wakes up early in the morning, has bread and coffee and then attends the court proceedings from 9 in the morning till 6 in the evening, says a report on NDTV.

An avid book lover, Kanimozhi spends most of her time reading and is a regular visitor to the jail's library. She is also given newspapers and also provided with a television set. Kanimozhi is allowed to meet her family only twice a week.

According to jail authorities, Kanimozhi is well behaved and also speaks to other inmates of the jail, said NDTV.

With high profile accused lodged in Tihar jail, the menu of the jail has also changed to suit their taste buds.

According to jail sources, the menu in jail number eight was changed and the female inmates were taught to cook South Indian food after Kanimozhi's arrival.

The menu in jail number one had already changed after ex-telecom minister, A Raja, the prime accused in the 2G scam was arrested in Feb. The same happened when Kalaignar TV MD, Sharad Kumar was lodged in the jail number four for his role in the country's biggest corruption scandal.

Kanimozhi, along with Sharad Kumar, MD, Kalaignar TV allegedly received a bribe of Rs 200 crore from Cineyug Films through Shahid Balwa's DB Realty.

Kanimozhi stands by her argument that the alleged Rs 200 crore bribe was in actuality a loan from Cineyug and was availed at market rate for the channel's operations.
