Talks between Munde, Gadkari remain indecisive

New Delhi, Jun 20: The BJP leadership volunteered a crucial role for the senior leader Gopinath Munde in party affairs in Maharashtra in an attempt to appease the sulking leader. But, the talks between BJP President Nitin Gadkari and Gopinath Munde on Sunday, Jun 19 remained inconclusive.

Munde said,"I have been holding talks with our state incharge M Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar and general secretary (organisation) Ramlal. Today I met party president Nitin Gadkari, L K Advani and the others. I told them about all my thoughts. The talks were held and are continuing in a positive direction. This is all I have to say".

The first meeting between Gadkari and Munde was at Advani's residence in order to resolve the crisis. Munde held several rounds of discussions with Venkaiah Naidu and Kumar, who have been asked to resolve the crisis by Gadkari during the day.

According to Naidu, they have discussed all the issues in a " positive atmosphere". " I am hopeful there will be a positive solution to all the issues", he added.

Sources said the party leadership has promised to have a relook at replacing Munde loyalist and Leader of the Opposition in the legislative council Pandurang Phundkar with Gadkari supporter Vinod Thawde.
