Girl raped at gun point; UP - the worst place for women?

Basti (UP), Jun 19: Just hours after the shocking news of minor girl blinded for resisting rape, another incident of brutality reported from Uttar Pradesh. An 18-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Ranipur Beladi village in Basti, Uttar Pradesh.

Police officials said that the girl was raped at gun point on Saturday, Jun 18 night. A case has been registered against Satti Singh, who lives in the same village, for allegedly raping the girl.

It was the third rape case popped-up in Uttar Pradesh in less than a week. Earlier on Saturday, a 14-year-old girl in Ghur-purwa village of Kannauj was raped by two men. The culprits stabbed her both eyes for resisting the rape. The victim had lost lost complete vision in her left eye and the cornea in her right eye is severely damaged.

In another incident in the last week, 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly raped by police men and found hanging inside the premises of a police station. This incident happened in Lakhimpur village led to uprising against Mayawati's government.
