Unofficial reports claimed that twenty people spent 36 hours to count the money recovered from the Yajur Mandir.

Sai Baba Central Trust members decided to open the Yajur Mandir after allegations of smuggling valuables from the chamber. The chamber was closely guarded and entry was restricted to Sai Baba's close aide Satyajit. The chamber was closed since the Baba was hospitalized on Mar 28.

The counting process by students of the Satya Sai Educational Institute was assisted by Bank officials with currency counting machines.
