Uttar Pradesh, Jun 15: A doctor on Wednesday, Jun 15 criticised the police for "misinterpreting" the post mortem reports of the minor girl who was allegedly raped and killed in Lakhimpur police station. The doctor said that the report submitted by him and two other doctors said there were "injuries on the victim's neck and leg".

"We are not at fault. It was a mistake on the part of the police as they failed to comprehend our post-mortem report," AK Agarwal told reporters. He was one of the three doctors who first conducted a post mortem on the girl and suspended since then.

"Police misinterpreted the findings of the report that had no flaw. We were not told to probe the case with a suicide or murder angle. Our post-mortem report mentioned the injuries on the victim's neck and leg," said Dr AK Agarwal.

It was Dr Agarwal who with other doctors, SP Singh and AK Sharma conducted the first autopsy on the minor girl. After a report was submitted by the doctors, police announced that the minor had committed suicide.

After much protest from the public, a second autopsy was conducted which showed that the minor was killed. Following which Dr Agarwal along with Dr SP Singh and Dr AK Sharma were suspended from their duties.

The case is being investigated by the crime branch.

Earlier in the day Mayawati, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh broke her silence on the Kheri Rape and Murder case. Speaking to reporters, the Uttar Pradesh CM, had nothing new to say, as she once again resorted to blame the Opposition parties and the Central government of playing dirty to defame her government.

She also, called on the Opposition to help in nailing the accused in the brutal rape and murder saying, "Opposition parties should stop playing politics and help out in getting the real accused arrested."

The 14-year-old was found dead in the premises of the police station after she followed her cattle which strayed into the station premises.

The girl's family are accusing the police for their daughter's murder. According to the victim's father, Intezam Ali, the station officer Ravi Srivastava and a constable were responsible for the rape of his daughter, following which 11 policemen were suspended on Saturday, Jun 11.

With third such incidence happening in the state, the Mayawati government is under pressure to take immediate action against the guilty.
