Mayawati govt runs 'Jungle-Raj' in UP: Digvijay Singh

Citing the tensed situation over the minor rape and murder case in Lakhimpur, Congress' general secretary reiterated the demand of initiating a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Terming Mayawati government as "Jungle-Raj", Digvijay Singh accused Maywati and local investigative agencies as corrupt and claimed that only CBI probe can unearth the reality of the murder case.
Meanwhile, Mayawati said, "Central government is not interested in getting justice for the victim, but playing politics instead."
Defending her government's stand in the state, the CM also added, "If we compare with the tenure of the last government (Mulayam Singh Yadav government), crime graph in the state has reduced drastically."
It seems that no party, including Congress or ruling BSP, is ready to leave a single inch to its competitors ahead of the crucial assembly election in 2012.
After Bhatta Parasaul, it seems that Congress once again have received another weapon to mar Mayawati's reign in the state. It can be recalled that a 14-year girl was found dead in the premises of the Lakhimpur Kheri police station.
The girl's family has accused the police for their daughter's murder. According to the victim's father, Intezam Ali, the station officer Ravi Srivastava and a constable were responsible for the rape of his daughter, following which 11 policemen were suspended on Saturday, Jun 11.
