JK, Arunachal cut from India map, Oz rectifies MISTAKE
The Australian website made a grave mistake as it touched the sentiment of the country and its people in general. The Indian community in Australia had lodged strong protests with the Australian government over the incorrect map of India.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) spokesperson said that the India map was sourced from UN and the officials, without checking any explanatory footnotes, posted the map on the website.
However, welcoming the DIAC's latest move over the map issue, Indian community in Australia said, "DIAC is a responsive body which takes note of the concerns of the Indian Australian community and acts promptly when needed."
"We, the Indian Australian community, are happy that we have been able to undo a wrong," added the community spokesperson.
