SC adjourns bail plea; Kanimozhi to continue in Tihar

New Delhi, Jun 13: The Supreme Court of India has adjourned 2G spectrum accused DMK MP Kanimozhi's bail plea till Jun 20.

The SC adjourned the hearing of the case till Monday, Jun 20 and also issued a notice to the investigating agency CBI asking to file response on the bail plea filed by Kanimozhi. The CBI has to file its response by Jun 20.

Kanimozhi, daughter of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, moved the SC after her second bail plea was rejected by the Delhi High Court. Before this, the HC had dismissed the bail plea of Kanimozhi and the 2G spectrum co-accused Kalaignar TV MD, Sharad Kumar, on Jun 8.

HC rejected Kanimozhi's bail plea after CBI opposed it saying that the bail may help her to influence witnesses.

Her bail plea was earlier rejected on May 20 by Justice OP Saini, a special CBI Judge, after she was charged over her alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam for accepting a bribe of Rs 214 crore.
