UP minor rape case: Family offered a 'bribe' of Rs 5 lakh
The brother of the girl is a key eye witness in the case who saw her body being dragged out by two policemen outside the police station.
According to the victim's mother, their family was allegedly given a bribe of Rs 5 lakh to keep their mouth shut.
"We dont want any money, we want justice," said the mother of the dead minor girl pleading that justice be done by the Mayawati government. She also said that evidence in the case was destroyed by the accused.
Meanwhile the CB-CID team have already reached Lakhimpur Khari.
Several political parties and villagers are protesting at Lakhimpur demanding justice for the 14-year-old girl who was allegedly raped and murdered on Friday, Jun 10.
Jitin Prasad, Union Minister for Surface Transport , Uttar Pradesh said that the tragedy that took place depicted the “deteriorating" law and order in Uttar Pradesh.
“This is a barbaric incident and suspension of policemen is nothing more than farce," said Kalraj Mishra, Senior BJP leader.
“The committee, constituted on the directive of state president Akhilesh Yadav, will submit its report with party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav," said Rajendra Chaudhary, Samajwadi Party spokesman and added that the fact finding committee of the party would reach the spot along with Ahmad Hasan, Leader of the Opposition, Vidhan Parishad on Jun 14.
The 14-year-old was found dead in the premises of the police station after she followed her cattle which strayed into the station premises.
The girl's family are accusing the police for their daughter's murder. According to the victim's father, Intezam Ali, the station officer Ravi Srivastava and a constable were responsible for the rape of his daughter, following which 11 policemen were suspended on Saturday, Jun 11.
With third such incidence happening in the state, the Mayawati government is under pressure to take immediate action against the guilty.
