Nokia to manufacture Microsoft Windows 8 tablets?

San Francisco, Jun 12: If everything goes well, soon we can taste Microsoft Windows 8 tablets manufactured by Nokia, the world's largest mobile phone maker.

According to latest rumour mills reports, Microsoft is in talks with Nokia for manufacturing the much awaited Windows 8 tablet. Reports added that the Windows 8 tablet will be available in market in 2012, almost similar to Nokia Windows Phone 7 launch.

The new reports popped up when rumours doing rounds about Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia, which has been facing loss in the mobile market to Apple's iPhone and Android devices. Event hough, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop rejected reports on Nokia sale, some industry experts still keep hope on Nokia-Microsoft merger, as both face death blows from its rivals.

Microsoft showcased the brand new Windows 8 OS at the D9 Conference. The exciting feature on Windows 8, which looks like Windows Phone 7 platform, is its 'touch interface' that features tile-based Start screen. The new user interface is designed and optimized for touch and it works equally well with a mouse and keyboard.

Earlier, Microsoft announced its strategic alliance with Nokia for the Windows Phone 7 operating system. According to this partnership, Nokia dumped Symbian and MeeGo platforms to make WP7 as its primary platform for upcoming smartphones.
