Baba Ramdev 'forcibly' moved out of Haridwar to hospital

New Delhi, Jun 10: Baba Ramdev has been forcibly moved out of Haridwar for immediate hospitalisation in Dehradun.

According to media reports, Baba's pulse rate and Blood pressure went down acting to which doctors advised that he be taken to Dehradun for further treatment.

"Baba Ramdev agreed to be shifted to the hospital in an ambulance. The ambulance has ICU facilities. The CMO is accompanying him. Glucose has been administered to Baba Ramdev. We shifted Baba Ramdev to hospital only after his consent. We went by the advice of the doctors attending him," said R Meenakshi Sundaram, Haridwar District Magistrate.

Baba has been fasting for the past seven days. Meanwhile Sri Sri Ravishankar also reached Himalayan Institute of Hospital to meet Baba Ramdev.

"Government should intervene on humanitarian grounds," said Anna Hazare after the reports of Baba Ramdev being taken for further treatment came out. He also requested that the government that necessary steps should be taken and they should ask Baba to end his fast.

"His blood pressure is 104/70 which is low and pulse rate is 58 per minute which is also low. If his pulse rate and BP continue to go down, it may put some pressure on his heart. We found that his health is going down. It is worrisome," said Yogesh Chandra Sharma, Chief Medical Officer Yogesh Chandra earlier in the day after a check up of Ramdev.

"We have recommended him immediate hospitalisation. He should be admitted on priority basis. I have sent my report to the District Magistrate and response is awaited," Sharma had said.

He also said that Baba was suffering from Dehydration and the request to break his fast was rejected by Baba Ramdev.

"There is not much improvement in his health after he started taking lemonade. We have advised him to take glucose which he has denied. He needs to be medically examined and taken to hospital," Sharma had said.
