2G: Kanimozhi moves Supreme Court for bail

New Delhi, Jun 10: 2G spectrum accused Kanimozhi is moving Supreme court after Delhi HC rejected her bail plea.

The move comes in after DMK decided to hold a high level meeting on Jun 10.

Kanimozhi's bail was rejected on the grounds that she could influence witnesses. The Delhi High Court earlier dismissed the bail plea of 2G spectrum accused DMK MP, Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar, Kalaignar TV MD on Jun 8.

The CBI strongly opposed the bail plea of Kanimozhi and the court said that Kanimozhi could influence witnesses. Kanimozhi's mother was reportedly in tears after the verdict came out.

The Delhi High Court earlier on May 30, had reserved order on the bail plea of Kanimozhi and Sharad Kumar. Her lawyer Ram Jethmalani, portrayed her as a dutiful and responsible mother so her bail plea would be considered. Kanimozhi is currently lodged in Tihar jail along with Ex-Telecom Minister, A Raja and other accused in the 2G scam.

Her bail plea was earlier rejected on May 20 by Justice OP Saini, a special CBI Judge, after she was charged over her alleged involvement in the 2G spectrum scam for accepting a bribe of Rs 214 crore.
