San Francisco, Jun 9: "Yuck, I am jammed in traffic, again late in Office.. oh nooo!!" It's a regular update post we see in social networking sites Facebook or Twitter. Forget those worries, here comes the new Google Maps with live alerts of public transit.

The Android maker Google has announced the launch of updates to its popular Google Maps service. The new update will offer live transit updates including route maps, departure times, information on delays and service alerts.

"When you click on a transit station or plan a transit route with Google Maps and there are delays or alerts related to your trip, you"ll now see 'live departure times' (indicated with a special icon) and service alerts," Google said in its blog.

Google has partnered with transit agencies to integrate live transit data in four United State cities and two European cities: Boston, Portland, Ore., San Diego, San Francisco, Madrid and Turin. Google said that they are working with our public transit partners to help them provide live data to more people in more cities.

The new Google Maps with Live Transit Update will be available for mobile and desktop versions. Mobiles running with Android 1.6 or higher versions can get new Google Map service.
