BJP wants Sonia, Mamata to break silence over corruption

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and ally Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee
Kolkata, June 9: The BJP today (June 9) questioned UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and ally Trinamool Congress Chief Mamata Banerjee's silence over alleged corruption scandals due to which the government has come under attack.

BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said Gandhi and Banerjee should break their silence.

"Sonia Gandhi should break her silence and come out with her stand against corruption and Mamata Banerjee should likewise make her position clear on corruption in public domain," Naqvi told a press conference.

"From Madam to Didi and from Maharani to Yuvraj, every one is equally responsible for the corruption and scams of of the UPA government," Naqvi said adding, "If Didi wants to keep her clean and honest image alive, she should come out with her clarification in public."

Strongly criticising the UPA government's predilection for settling issues outside Parliament, Naqvi said the trend has not only dishonoured the dignity of Parliament, but also the country's democracy.

"The way this government has started a new trend of organising compromise meetings and discussions in five-star hotels and other places outside Parliament, it has not only dishonoured the dignity of Parliament, but this is also a setback for the biggest democracy," he said.
