JK: Home Ministry seeks details on pending passport cases

Jammu and Kashmir Map
New Delhi, Jun 7: The external affairs ministry has been asked by the home ministry to put up the details of cases that are pending in issuing of passport to the applicants from Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision came after many applicants were not given security clearance in the state after it was found that many of their relatives had suspected links with militants.

The issue was brought into light after residents of Jammu and Kashmir found it difficult to procure passports because of the descent of their parents.

Mubeshirah Qayoom from Sopore did not get security clearance for her passport because of her father's suspected links with a militant group. After GK Pillai, the home secretary took her case to the concerned authorities, a no objection letter was issued to her for her passport.
