D-voters issue cause of concern: Assam Governor

"Yes the matter of D-voters is of concern to my government as a large number of them have been found to be genuine Indians subsequently," Patnaik said in his address to the 13th session of the Assam Assembly here.
"Steps will be taken to ensure that genuine citizens, who have however been identified as D-voters, are allowed to exercise all their rights including the right to vote," he said.
On the state police force, the governor said steps will be taken for its allround modernisation through required infrastructure development and administrative reforms.
"Steps shall be taken to make police people-friendly and the number of police stations and outposts will be increased in proportion to the rise in population", the governor said.
"The scheme to grant compensation to family members of victims of violence will continue and special steps will be taken to provide education to children of such families", he said.
