Assam Assembly gets Pranab Gogoi as its new speaker

Guwahati, June 6: Pranab Gogoi on Monday, June 6 was elected as the speaker of the 13th Assam Assembly. He was the newly elected Congress MLA from Sibsagar constituency.

Chief minister Tarun Gogoi congratulated the new speaker and said that he would help to facilitate smooth functioning of the state Assembly.

"We hope that the new speaker will uphold the traditional dignity of the august House", the chief minister said.

Pranab Gogoi also received best wishes from many other big guns of Assam Politics like Former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and senior ministers Nilomani Sen Deka and Pradyut Bordoloi.
