'Betrayed' Ramdev snubs govt agreement, continues fast

Baba Ramdev
New Delhi, Jun 4: Despite the government assurance to meet all demands voiced by the yoga guru, Baba Ramdev on Saturday, Jun 4 clarified that he would not withdraw his plan to continue his fast.

Ramdev, hurling his attack on the government, said that the UPA government has betrayed Baba and his followers. "We were forced to write the letter which Kapil Sibal is showing," said Baba. The yoga guru also claimed that he will not consider any telephonic discussion with the government.

Just after the meeting with Ramdev, the telecom minister Sibal said that government has given written assurance to bring back black money and a verbal agreement also been placed between the government and Baba. Sibal also showed a letter as a proof which says that Baba had agreed to call of his fast if the government will agree to fulfill his demands.

However, hardening his stand on the government, Ramdev asked all people to join his "andolan" (protest) and dared the government to arrest him (Ramdev). The yoga guru also urged his supporters not to turn to violent protest.

Among the demands made by Ramdev are an ordinance to repatriate black money from abroad, capital punishment for people convicted for corruption and speedy trials of persons accused of graft.

Kapil Sibal also said that a committee would be constituted on technical in Hindi education, another demand voiced by the yoga guru.
