All former telecom mins to be summoned before JPC: Chacko

New Delhi, Jun 3: The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the 2G spectrum allocation scam will summon all former Telecom Ministers, including Dayanidhi Maran, before the committee, its chief P C Chacko said today.

He, however, said Maran will be summoned "not in view of the recent allegations" against him.

"Otherwise also our Terms of Reference (TOR) have clearly underlined the examination of (telecom policy) decisions taken between 1998 and 2009. All those who were Telecom Ministers during the period will be summoned.

Naturally, Maran will also be summoned," Chacko told PTI over phone.

Chacko said the JPC has called for all files and details during the ten years period in which the controversial policy decisions paved way for the 2G spectrum scam involving thousands of crores.

Allegations were levelled against Maran that his family owned Sun Television Network was a beneficiary of pay-offs by a Malaysian company which benefited from equity sold by Aircel when he was the Telecom Minister.

Maran has rejected the charges.
