UP releases a newborn farmland acquisition policy
Land for industry is a very crucial issue in India, due to the strained and conflictual relation over lands between the investors and millions of poor farmers .
"Under the new policy, the state government would only be involved in notifying and earmarking the boundary of the land. But the price of the land and other modalities would be decided by the buyers and the sellers," Mayawati said on Thursday, June 3.
Rahul Gandhi, the Congress scion, had visited the twin villages of Bhatta-Parsaul in Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida area after violent protests by farmers over land acquisition. Few villagers as well as farmers were killed in the clashes.
Rahul, the new political star had made a statement that there was a heap of ash in the village "with dead bodies inside".
