Facebook growth rate: Brazil tops list, India in 6th spot

The study conducted by statistics site Social Bakers found that Facebook bagged more than 1.9 million users in Brazil in the month of May, making it the top growing countries on Facebook with a growth rate of 11 percent.
According to the survey, Indonesia scored the second spot with a growth rate of 4.15 percent during the month of May, followed by Philippines and Mexico. India settled in the sixth spot with a 3.6 percent growth behind Argentina with 7.6 percent.
Meanwhile, United States still continued to reign on the first spot for the most number of users from a single country. Around 149 million Americans have Facebook page, which shows that half of the US population is busy with Facebook.
Indonesia has more than 37 million users and UK is placed in the third place in the Facebook user charts, with over 29 million registered users.
Despite its political uncertainty, Egypt recorded a 11.1 growth in the month of May, 2011. Notably, it's interesting to watch the increasing popularity of Facebook in Egypt, where it helped to spread the democratic protest against the former President Hosni Mubarak.
