Swan Promoter Balwa wants to depose before JPC

New Delhi, June 2: Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, who is under custody for his alleged involvement in the 2G scam, now wants to depose before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the spectrum scam.

Balwa, who has already written to JPC chairman P C Chacko mentioning that the JPC should listen to him, is presently awaiting the response. Balwa, stuck to his explanation that he wasn't engaged in any illegality and that the licence and spectrum Swan Telecom got from the sacked telecom minister was in keeping with the policy of the government as a whole.

The allegation of quid pro quo had been refuted by Balwa and also, he claimed that he got the licence for the policy that had PM Manmohan Singh's approval.
