Bihar map
Patna, May 31: Two days after a doctor was beaten to death by inmates in a jail, the Bihar government transferred District Magistrate and Inspector General of prisons(Gopalganj). Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of state decided to take the step after doctors and opposition parties went on a protest.

The doctor was beaten to death by inmates of a jail after he refused to issue them a fake certificate on Sunday, May 29.

The incident took place when Dr B D Singh went to treat a patient in Gopalganj jail who complained of illness. He was pushed down a stairway after he entered the jail and then beaten up by the prisoners. He lost his life on the way to hospital.

Rajan Yadav, the main accused led the charge. Yadav was given a life time imprisonment in kidnapping case. He along with other inmates of the jail wanted the doctor to issue them a fake certificate, so that they would not be shifted to other jail.

Though the Bihar government has ordered an investigation into the matter, the colleagues and the family of the victim are demanding the matter to be investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
