JK Guv for generating awareness against tobacco consumption

Srinagar, May 30: Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has called for adopting a "missionary approach" to generate greater awareness among people against the adverse effects of tobacco consumption.

Vohra called for the involvement of all the stakeholders and society to progressively achieve the desired results.

The Governor was addressing a one-day "State Level Advocacy Workshop for Sensitizing Stakeholders on Tobacco Control Laws and Measures" here yesterday.

He emphasised that along with effective implementation of the anti-tobacco laws, greater focus must be laid on preventive aspects of smoking followed by curative efforts.

"Similar workshops and interactions are required to be organized at the district and sub-divisional levels to engender awareness to prevent consumption of tobacco in any form," he said.
