Senior citizen rapes, murders minor girl in Thane

Thane, May 29: A minor girl was allegedly raped and killed by a 68-year-old man in the posh Vasant Vihar area here, police said today (May 29).

The 14-year-old victim had substituted her mother as domestic help at the house of the accused Vikram Dashra on Saturday, May 28, when the latter, who was alone, allegedly forced himself on the girl, they said.

Fearing that the girl may narrate the incident to her family members, Dashra allegedly strangulated her and threw her body outside his flat on the seventh floor, police said.

After his neighbours raised a hue and cry over the victim lying outside his house, the accused took the ''girl'' to a nearby hospital where doctors refused to admit her, police said.

He then took her to the Thane Civil hospital, where she was declared brought dead, they said.

Based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother, Dashra was arrested, police said adding that further investigations are on.
