Fresh trouble for Sanjay Dutt; non-bailable warrant issued

Mumbai, May 29: A fresh trouble hit Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt as a local court in Uttar Pradesh issued non-bailable warrant against Dutt for not appearing before the court in a violation of of model code of conduct case.

The case was lodged against Dutt in 2009 when he was the national general secretary of Samajwadi Party (SP). Dutt was accused of breaching the code of conduct while campaigning in favour of the party candidate Arshad Jamal for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

Along with Dutt, warrants have been issued against SP candidate and co-accused in the case Jamal and directed Superintendent of Police and DIG of Azamgarh.

Sources said that when Dutt and other accused failed to appear before the court, despite receiving summon order, the court issued the warrant on Mar 26, 2011.
