First US-India Homeland dialogue begins

New Delhi, May 27: The First US-India Homeland dialogue began in New Delhi on Friday, May 27 during which the Home Minister, P Chidambaram and Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano discussed issues related to Mumbai attacks and transfer of counter-terrorism.

Napolitano paid a visit to the police memorial for those who lost their lives during the 26/11 attacks.

The discussions will also focus on issues related to countering illicit financing and trans-national crime, coastal security, mega city policing,accessing and sharing of data related to terrorism, cyber security and homeland security equipment to both the countries.

Napolitano's visit comes after US President, Barack Obama visited India in Nov last year. Chidambaram had toured the US in Jan, 2009.
