'MP govt playing with history and culture of Bhopal'

Bhopal, May 26: The Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Ajay Singh, today (May 26) criticised the state government over its move to change the name of Bhopal to Bhojpal.

Singh said in a statement that the real motive of the Shivraj Singh Chauhan government behind the move was nothing but a political gimmick so as to hide its failure adding that the government is playing with history and culture of the state capital.

The life style, the language and the conduct of residents of Bhopal are beautifully distinct and have created a special name for this city worldwide, Singh said.

Whatever the Madhya Pradesh government intends to do was only for the sake of doing as in the cases of Kolkata, Bangluru and Chennai whose names were changed from Calcutta, Bangalore and Madras respectively. However, the government should not forget that the people there supported such changes, Singh added.
