Woman arrested for selling property to 5 different persons

New Delhi, May 23 (PTI) An elderly woman was arrestedfor allegedly selling her mortgaged property in Janakpuri tofive different persons and earning Rs 3.5 core illegitimately,police said today.

Usha Johri (61), a resident of Jeevan park, was nabbedby the police yesterday in the same locality but from a rentedaccommodation after a local court issued non-bailable warrantagainst her and some of her family members.

According to the police, the widow woman and her doctorson Yash Johri (41) and others had sold the property to fivedifferent people and cheated them to the tune of Rs 3.5 croreafter which they went into hiding.

The alleged fraud came into light, when Mayur Jain,director of Dev Kirpa Developers Pvt Ltd, filed a complaintsaying that when staff of his firm went to acquire theproperty, they found that some people had already shiftedthere. The occupants also claimed to have bought the plot andthey showed documents regarding purchase of the property.

On enquiry, it was found that she had executed 12registries and sale deeds to the victims, amounting Rs 3.5crore, the police said. Johri''s property was already mortgagedto a bank. Later, a court issued non-bailable warrant againstall the accused.

The police said they are trying to recover the cheatedamount and efforts are being made to arrest the other accused.
