Congress MLA surrenders before court in murder case

The Chief Judicial Magistrate Sitaram Prasad orderd 14 days' judicial remand for Lakra, against whom an arrest warrant had been issued on May 9 since he had been at large after filing of an FIR against him on May 3.
The FIR was filed against Lakra with the Namkum police station here after the father of a youth, Avinash Tiwari, charged the legislator with abduction and murder of his son.
The bullet-riddled body of Avinash was found on April 27 at Lodhma in Khunti district, about 30 km from here.
The bodyguard, who was also named in the FIR, had earlier surrendered before the court.Lakra represents Khijri assembly constituency in Ranchi district. Police were investigating reports about Avinash having an affair with the niece of Lakra.
