Telangana talks TUF; on a political boil

New Delhi, May 20: The Telangana stir may have lost its sheen following the release of the Sri Krishna Committee report, but the voices of the agitation still rumbles on and seem to be gaining force with time.

All those who support the Telangana cause including political parties and organisations are ready to gear up with renewed fervor to kickstart work for the cause. As an initial step, all such parties and organizations intend to fall under the larger umbrella of the 'Telangana United Front" (TUF). The activities in this front will accelerate if the Centre does not agree to a separate state by the first week of June.

There are reports suggesting that the TUF will comprise of pro-Telangana supporters from the Congress, the Telugu Desam, the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, CPI and the BJP. They have decided to resign from their seats and the respective parties and join the TUF lending more power to the cause.

The man behind the formation of the TUF is believed to be senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member, K. Kesava Rao. Sources have also claimed that Rao met with representatives from major parties like K. Chandrasekhar Rao (TRS), Suravaram Sudhakara Reddy (CPI), Nagam Janardhan Reddy (TD), Bandaru Dattatreya and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao (BJP) for the cause and discussed the modalities to float TUF.

Cutting across political parties, other organisations also rendered support for the cause like the Telangana Lawyers" Association, Telangana Doctors" Association, Telangana Engineers" Association, Telangana Teachers" Association and Telangana Government Employees" Association. All unanimously pledged their support for the cause and agreed to unite under TUF.

Plans are in place to initiate a political crisis among dissenting parties on account of the various hurdles put forth by certain political parties who have apprehensions on the cause. A dharna was also held by 350 journalists from the Telangana region under the name of 'Telangana Journalists Forum" that was presided over by Allam Narayana.
