Sugar weakens on sluggish demand
Mumbai, May 20: Sugar prices continued to fall at the Vashi wholesale market here on Friday, May 20, due to subdued demand from stockists and bulk consumers amidst adequate stock availability.
Small sugar (S-30) declined by Rs 5/10 per quintal to Rs 2,736/2,771 from Thursday, May 19, closing level of Rs 2,741/2,781.
Medium sugar (M-30) also moved down by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 2,786/2,881 as compared to Rs 2,791/2,881 yesterday.
The following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets:
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,736/2,771 (Rs 2,741/ 2,781).
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,786/2,881 (Rs 2,791/ 2,881).
