Washington, May 20: US Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will visit India on Tuesday, May 24, to launch India-US Homeland Security Dialogue, her office has announced.

During her four-day visit to India beginning May 24, Napolitano will hold talks with Home Minister P Chidambaram and other top Indian officials.

The Homeland Security Dialogue is aimed at increasing communication and information sharing between both the nations on counterterrorism and other issues that affect their security.

The dialogue will also highlight protecting the global supply chain, combating illicit financing and enhancing cyber security.

"Napolitano will visit India on May 24-27, with stops in New Delhi and Mumbai, where she will meet with Indian officials and representatives of the private industry to share best practices to promote homeland security and coordinate counterterrorism and law enforcement cooperation between the two countries to better ensure the safety and security of both US and Indian citizens," an official statement said.

The visit comes amidst strained relations between America and Pakistan after the killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by US in a covert operation in Abbottabad.
