Madhya Pradesh BJP chief writes to PM over demands

Manmohan Singh
Bhopal, May 20: The ruling BJP in Madhya Pradesh has requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to fulfil what is said the long pending demands of the people of the state.

In an open letter to Singh, Thursday, May 19, State BJP President Prabhat Jha raised the issues of 'inadequate' grants, less quota of power and coal being given to the State by the Centre, a party release said on Friday, May 20.

Highlighting various achievements of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan Government, Jha exuded confidence that the Prime Minister's visit to Bina on Friday, May 20, where he inaugurated a refinery, would bring plenty of bounties for the State.

Drawing attention towards Chouhan's decision to withdraw his indefinite fast in February on Singh's assurance, he said 7.5 crore people of Madhya Pradesh were looking towards him for some major announcements, particularly in relation to relief for the frost-hit farmers.

The BJP leader said vast stretches of crops in the State were damaged due to frost recently, but it was surprising that the Centre has not paid any attention towards this occurrence. This has been done to escape from the responsibility of providing compensation to the farmers.

The Congress-led UPA Government was hampering the pace of the development in the BJP-ruled state, Jha maintained.
