Congress to join Mamata ministry

Kolkata, May 20: Congress tonight announced its decision to join the Mamata Banerjee-led ministry in West Bengal which will be sworn-in on Friday, May 20.

"Congress is going to join the ministry. We have conveyed our best wishes from our party chief Sonia Gandhi to Mamata Banerjee," AICC observer in-charge of West Bengal Shakeel Ahmed said after a CLP meeting took the decision of participating in the ministry.

Ahmed, flanked by Defence minister A K Anthony at the CLP meeting, said names of Congress ministers had been communicated to the Trinamool Congress supremo but did not disclose them.

He said there was also a special gift from Gandhi which was handed over to the Trinamool chief.
