Nokia to launch 'Search' feature on mobiles in India

The Finnish phone maker Nokia will launch 'Search' feature, which will enable users to identify a particular locality at the click of a button. This new feature helps Nokia users to understand more details about a new place or a tourist destination.
"We are planning to introduce the 'Search" option that gives out details about a particular locality or anything you want to know. For example, if you want to know a food joint in Nungambakkam (in Chennai), it will give out the details of food joints present nearby," said V Ramnath, Nokia India Director - Operator Channel.
He also added that this new feature will help users to identify a place or a shopping mall or a food joint direct from their mobile phones.
With this new Search feature, Nokia plans to compete with Google Places, which offers similar services both on mobiles and computers. Nokia has not yet described whether the new service would be like Nokia Maps or function as a standalone feature.
