Amma to give election goodies - Google Chromebooks?

Chennai, May 14: After the vote counting results on Friday, May 13, AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa has returned to power once again in Tamil Nadu. The actress turned politician will take oath as the new Chief Minister on Sunday, May 15.

Amma, as she is fondly called among those in the party cadres, chose to fight against the clannish and alleged corrupt rule of the DMK government and locked horns with a party that was already on life-support system after being embroiled in controversies and scams. The 2G spectrum scam and the DMK entangling in it acted as the biggest blow that spoiled chances for DMK. Despite the fact that Karunanidhi won in his home constituency of Tiruvarur by close to 50,000 votes, he still faced the biggest set back of his political career.

Never has the DMK have had to face such a humiliating defeat in spite of the goodies promised to voters. AIADMK won 203 and the DMK won 31 of the 234 assembly seats.

Now time has finally come when the voters can expect Amma to come forward and fulfill her promises which she had offered during her election campaigning.

It seems that in the competition between DMK's Karunanidhi and AIADMK's Jayalalithaa, the latter succeeded in winning the hearts of people. While Karunanidhi had promised to give free mixies and grinders to women, Jayalalithaa declared to provide both and plus a fan to each woman in the state.

Few of the eye-shocking agendas, which were taken by Jayalalithaa were - 4 gram gold free for Women Mangalyam (marriage), 20 litres of mineral water daily to BPL families, Rs 12,000 during four months of maternity leave and so many.

For fishermen, if the DMK had promised an insurance scheme and increase in subsidised diesel, the AIADMK had offered a special protection force and an assistance of Rs 4,000 each during four lean months.

While Karunanidhi's party had announced to give laptops to all first-year government college students from backward communities like SC, ST, MBC and BC, Jayalalithaa offered something extra. AIADMK chief announced laptops to all +1, and +2 students.

Recently, the search engine giant Google has unveiled its Chromebook laptops. Now, it will be interesting to see if Tamil Nadu people demands Chromebook laptops from Amma, how she manages to satisfy the people!
